Tricks of the Trade – Government Recalls

recalls

Do you know that there are government recalls all the time? More than just what we hear in the news. I was surprised when I found out! But when I had my first child there seemed to be recalls in the news every day of baby and children’s toys. With so many in the news I knew that I wanted to know about recalls of any items that my kids might have – so I did some research and found this website www.recalls.gov. It’s a government run site that you can find out about recent recalls and even sign up to get notices of their recalls.

Just the other day I got an email with a recall notice that 1 MILLION Kolcraft play yards were recalled. I personally don’t have one by my mom does! I don’t know yet if hers is in the recall but I will be finding out! (Click here to see the official notice)

It takes just a minute to sign up but it could save you or someone you know from getting hurt! When you sign up you can pick the categories that apply to you so that your inbox isn’t full of recalls that don’t apply to you.

The notices give you all the information you need – including part numbers, where the products were sold, what the problem with the product is, what injuries have been reported (if any) and links to any additional information.

I hope you’ll sign up! This is a very handy “trick of the Mommy Trade” to have in your bag of ticks! Click here to go straight to the page to sign up for notices.
