1 Peter 1:21-23

bible

“Through Christ you have come to trust in God. And you have placed your faith and hope in God because he raised Christ from the dead and gave him great glory. You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart. For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God.” 1 Peter 1:21-23 (NLT)

“For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.” 1 Peter 1:23 (NIV)

I love that verse that I bolded – vs 23. It’s easy to forget sometimes that as a Christian my life isn’t only now in the physical. I sometimes loose my eternal perspective and this verse brings it right back for me – because of my faith in Christ I am no longer perishable (as the wording in the NIV says) but I’ve been reborn with imperishable seed – a seed that will last forever! What does that mean? I have eternal life! And I need to keep that perspective when I get caught up in the busy-ness and details of everyday life. I have to ask myself – does this matter in eternity? Brings it right back for me every time!
