Our Turkey Feather Hunt Game

We are getting ready for Thanksgiving around here and Joy joy has LOVED everything that has to do with turkeys! We’ve been making every kind of turkey I can think of. We’ve colored coloring pages, done painted hand turkeys, we did this shapes turkey and now we’ve made a really cool turkey that we’ve turned into a game!

As you can see in this picture we found a pine cone, a liquid amber ball (is that what they are called?), some print outs, googly eyes and feathers and put them together as shown. I used a hot glue gun to put the pieces together. (I used the printout on this page and had Joy Joy color the different parts.)

We then turned this into a fun game that Joy-joy LOVES! Our little turkey has a habit of loosing his feathers and Joy-joy has to find them. (I send her to the other room while I hid them).

Both girls have fun with it! Here is Gracie-grace putting in a feather she found:

And here is Joy-joy putting her feather in the turkey too!

If you have preschoolers then I bet they’ll love this craft and game! Let me know if you ahve any fun Thanksgiving crafts let me know! We need some new ones!

  1. I did the same thing today, only with baby pinecones and construction paper.

We’re making “turkey” hats next week out of construction paper. That should be fun. Not sure how we’re doing it yet, I just can see them in my head. lol

  2. Ok, so I played around and while I see this “peaked” hat in my mind, it doesn’t work for me (I’m not very crafty). So. . .we’re sticking with wrapping a brown band around the kids heads and then gluing on the turkey feathers, face, eyes, etc. :)

I’ll have to post pics when I can of it.

I wanted to take brown construction paper and somehow fold it, almost in at triangle to sit on the child’s head, so the butt with the feathers stuck up in the air higher than the head. . . I’m still trying to figure it out. I’ll let ya know if I get it. lol

  4. Hi, I found your blog via No Time For Flashcards and want to say that this turkey is simply awesome. I’ll see if we can make it this weekend.

  5. Great idea! Thanks so much for sharing it!

  6. So glad you like the game! We play it several times a day in our house right now!
