Thanksgiving is almost here, Christmas just right behind it and with that comes entertaining and because of that LOTS of cleaning! I am personally NOT a fan of cleaning but I do it because it has to be done and because my hubby LOVES to come home to a clean house! I love to do what my husband likes – my way of showing him respect! (But that’s for a future post). I’ve come across a couple of great cleaning tips lately that I thought I’d pass on to you.
Cleaning Lamp Shades:
My girlfriend (Amy) and I were talking about cleaning and she told met hat she’s started to clean her lamp shades with a lint roller! I thought that was a GREAT idea! I don’t have any lampshades to clean myself cause our house has a lot of recessed lighting and ceiling fans – but if I did I would TOTALLY use this trick! Do you have any tips for cleaning your lamp shades?
Keeping your Glass Shower doors clean:
I read this tip in a magazine years ago and have stored it in the back of my mind for such an occasion as this! To keep your clear glass shower doors from spotting after every shower try spraying it down with RainX. It will coat the glass and the water won’t just sit there and bead up. A great help between cleaning days!
Cleaning textured Fiberglass Shower Floors:
I just found this tip last week and I thought it was brilliant! Do you have shower floors (or a tub) that looks like this?

I did at our old condo before we bought our house. I tried EVERYTHING to get it clean – the best solution I found was a Magic Eraser but even that didn’t get it completely clean. A Proverbs Wife used a new clean wire BBQ brush to clean her tub/shower floors and took them from the above picture to this:

Amazing huh? See why I had to share it with you?? She did say that she tested the brush in a small area first to make sure that it didn’t ruin the floor – you can read her entire post HERE.
Those are just 3 simple cleaning tips for you this time. if you have any great tips like these I would LOVE to know them! I’m always looking for ways to make my cleaning easier and more efficient! email me (themommytrade @ gmail . com – spaces removed) or leave a comment below. As I get more great tips I’ll post them!
