Potluck Survival Guide
“This is a Mama Buzz review. The product was provided by: Five Star Publications for this review.”
I recently had the privilege to review the “Potluck Survival Guide – The Care & Feeding of the Athletic Supporter” by Cherie Kimmons. I didn’t mis-type when I wrote privilege – it truily was a privledge to receive and review this cookbook!
I love Pot Lucks but never quiet know what to make (we have them often at our church) and this book is a home run with recipes and help to make my next meal selection easier! This book was created out of Cherie Kimmon’s experience as a mom and cook for atheletic teams over the years. She writes “One of the goals of this book is to help you match the needs of your crowd to your menu.” While “another goal is to take the fear out of feeding kids about whom you may know nothing in the way of food preferences.”
This cookbook is great for any cook – from novice to master. Cherie includes some “master recipes” that go into detail explaining the ingredients and methods used in the preparation of some basic dishes (like mashed potatoes & boiled chicken).
She includes tips on feeding kids ( with kid-friendly menu’s and recipes), tips for feeding athletes (with menus and recipes), strategies for the buffet and help on calculating numbers.
I can’t wait to try some of these recipes when my woman’s bible study starts up again! Recipes like Blueberry French Toast, Potato and Egg Bake, Nana’s Garlic Brisket, Avocado Salad and Ice Cream Sandwich Cake (yum!).
