How Great the Father’s Love

I am so blessed to be at the church I attend right now. I started attending there about 2 – almost 3 years ago. When my husband and I felt like it was time to move on from our previous church home (a church I had attended for 18 years) I was so nervous. We didn’t leave our previous church for any other reason other than we felt God’s tugging on our hearts. My husband and I had both been thinking about it, praying about it separately for a few months before either one of us talked to the other about! It was simply confirmation for us both when we talked about it.

I am so thankful that we followed the leading of our God. He is so faithful – despite the anxiety and the difficulty I  had leaving my previous church family God quickly helped ne, my husband and my children us feel at home. We are now, once again, surrounded by a Godly church family that we couldn’t love more!

All of that so say that my church is blessed with some AMAZING teachers. Just this morning I helped out in the youth ministry to cover for a friend who was out of town and I walked away so blessed, encouraged and convicted by the teaching. (Which is pretty much what happens everytime I am a part of the youth ministry).

In the message that was taught (out of Philippians 1:22-26) the teach (Marc) talked about the song “How Deep the Father’s Love for Us”. I was almost in tears as he read and talked about the lyrics. I was reminded again that My Father’s love is so deep that He gave his ONLY son for me- as a mom I couldn’t imagine watching my child suffering in any way – let alone watching one of them die. Most importantly I was reminded that what held my Savior to the cross was not the nails in his hands (because he is God and could have removed himself from the situation at any point in time) but it was MY SINS sins that held him there. It was MY SIN that kept him from removing himself. I don’t fully grasp why God would loves ME so much that He would sacrifice so much but I am thankful that I will have eternal salvation because I believe. (The good news is that his sacrifice was for every man who will believe in Christ!)

Here is a you tube Video with the song if you’d like to listen to it…the lyrics are amazing to me.
